Andrea Nemetz
What qualifications, including special skills or experience, would you bring to the position of Board Member?
I would bring a strong combination of hockey experience, leadership, and community engagement to the position of Board Member for the Roseville Area Youth Hockey Association. Having grown up playing for Roseville Girls Hockey and continuing my playing career at St. Cloud State University, I have firsthand knowledge of the dedication, teamwork, and skills required to succeed in the sport. Later, my experience coaching at Centennial further strengthened my ability to mentor young athletes, communicate effectively with parents, and collaborate with fellow coaches to foster player development. Additionally, my background in social media marketing and brand promotion would allow me to effectively promote association events, support fundraising efforts, and engage with the community. With these combined experiences, I am committed to contributing to the growth and success of youth hockey in Roseville.
How long have you been involved in RAYHA activities?
With over 30 years of experience as a player and coach, I have developed a deep understanding of the game and the positive impact it can have on young people, making me passionate about continuing to support and grow the hockey community in Roseville.
Why are you seeking a position on the RAYHA Board?
This role is important to me because hockey has played a significant role in shaping who I am today. Growing up playing for Roseville Girls Hockey provided me with invaluable life skills like discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. Continuing my journey at St. Cloud State University deepened my passion for the sport, while coaching at Centennial allowed me to give back by mentoring young athletes and helping them develop both on and off the ice. Serving as a Board Member would be a meaningful way for me to contribute to the same community that supported my growth. I’m passionate about ensuring that current and future players have access to positive experiences, strong mentorship, and the opportunity to build lifelong memories through hockey—just as I did.

I have been involved with hockey for over forty years, as a player, coach, and parent. In addition to hockey, my three sons participate in Roseville baseball and St. Paul Blackhawks soccer. Through involvement in these organizations, I have gained ample knowledge of best practices that I could bring to bear on Roseville youth hockey. As an attorney, I have professional skills (e.g., conflict resolution, agreement and policy drafting) that would be of value to a non-profit board.

I played organized hockey into college and have been a coach with RAYHA/Marauders since 2020. I have built positive relationships with the players, coaches, and parents during my time here and continue to expand and strengthen them each year. I just completed my first term on the board as Girls Director this past season. Special skills that I could bring include mediation, budgets, audits and statistical analysis. I also have experience in building brand awareness, promoting, and fundraising which can be useful as we try to grow and retain numbers in RAYHA.

RAYHA mites coach since 2020, also 10U & 12U Marauder coach for the last 3 years. I’m hoping to be part of RAYHA for another 8 years.
Why are you seeking a position on the RAYHA Board?
I was the third Girls Director in the past 3 years. I learned a lot; experienced success, and failure, and would like to build on this past year by creating stability and focusing on growing the girls program. We have some great ideas for improving player development, tournaments, and ice scheduling for the Marauders next year. I want to see our work come to fruition. I have positive relationship with Marauder Co-Op Board and continue to be an advocate for our female hockey players. Next year I will have a 12U and an 8U player; I still have strong interest in the 8U/Mite levels and making it an enjoyable experience for the players at this crucial entry point into hockey. Would appreciate the opportunity to serve as Girls Director for another term. Thank you.
